Jesus Makes Perfect Hearts | Hebrews 10 Pt. 1

December 1, 2024

Series: Hebrews

Scripture: Hebrews 10:1-18

This week’s sermon, “Jesus Makes Perfect Hearts,” based out of Hebrews chapter 10, Pastor Nathan teaches on the transformative power of Jesus in contrast to the traditional sacrificial system of the Law. There is a difference between viewing the Law as restrictive versus redemptive. While the Law exposes our sins, it does not possess the power to redeem us. The repetitive animal sacrifices in the Old Testament merely provided a temporary solution—similar to a lease, offering the appearance of freedom without true ownership of redemption. In contrast, Jesus is presented as the perfect sacrifice who redeems humanity once and for all, enabling us to experience a real change of heart aligned with God’s will.

Hebrews 10 goes on to unpack the implications of this new covenant, which extends to all people, Jew and Gentile. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are sanctified and made holy, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit as a sign of our covenant with God. This transformation leads to a heart that delights in following God’s commandments, as His laws are now written on our hearts. Ultimately, We are reassured that through Christ’s perfect offering, no further sacrifices are needed, leading to liberation from sin and an invitation to confidently work out our salvation in reverence and trembling as we embrace God’s good pleasure for our lives.
